You don`t need to go for the types that have complex designs. They could alter the purpose you have in mind. Simple works of art convey their messages direct to whoever looks at them. They also make the walls have enough space for other purposes.

Some wall decals are fairly complex, such as the ones that let you create an entire scene on the wall, others are fairly simple, some are just fancy designs, others are the silhouette of trees or birds. If you just want to add a few spots of color to a wall, you can get some wall decals that are large flowers or starbursts. On the other hand, if you want to go all-out, you can create a whole forest on your wall complete with different colored leaves, animals, and more.

Most decals are sold online and size and quality can be deceiving. Make sure that you read the fine print page for the size and material used. They should be removable and even better if re-positionable. Also, cheaper decals have a paper-like quality, usually have clear plastic around the design, or are printed on white background. They can appear shiny and once placed on a wall can appear cheap or sticker like in quality. The higher quality decals are slightly more expensive but well worth the money. There are vinyl decals that are usually done in the color of your choice and there are decals made of thin, matte material with high-resolution printing. Once put up on a wall they blend and are a beautiful addition to your space. In addition, they won`t tear if you move them around until you have it just right.

Even if the room is large, concentrate on bringing the focal point to one wall. Children can treat that wall as their blank canvas and can help in the selection and designing of that wall. It`s not messy or complicated and if it`s not right you can change it around. What a great project to do with kids to make them feel like they helped decorate their own room. Again, try to make the emphasis on one wall and your entire room will come alive. It adds so much to a room without being overdone and you can duplicate that motifs or color schemes in other areas of the room such as pillows, rugs, and other home accessories.

Remember the entire space around the art piece becomes an extension of it. Lighting, the empty space around it, and how far or near it is to the furniture all interact with your art piece and should be measured in totality before deciding on the piece. The bottom line is that a bit more expensive piece may not necessarily be the right one and a smaller piece may be much more suitable.

As you`ve seen on the do-it-yourself shows, nothing is impossible and there are a lot of shortcuts that can be utilized if time is of the essence.
