By starting with the walls, you can set the mood and basic style for the rest of the room. Choose to paint the walls with bright colors such as red, blue, and yellow, adding stenciled pictures to the walls.

For a smaller room, it`s best to keep the artwork on your walls smaller so that it appears balanced and doesn`t overwhelm the room. Think about hanging three related prints above your sofa, arranged in a level line straight across. Always use odd numbers of items, such as groups of 3 or 5 when decorating a wall.

They cover entire walls and have strong adhesives so parents will not have to worry about the sticker peeling off readily. As decals are usually peel-off, it is easy for parents to remove and replace the designs to update to their kid`s needs without worrying about the costly renovation.

Is your living room decorated in a contemporary or ultra-modern theme, or do you prefer a more traditional look, even leaning toward the country? These things make a difference when choosing the accents or designs you will use to decorate a wall.

The best way to choose this is to look at many different styles and find what style you are drawn to the most. Some of these styles are contemporary art, graphic art, metal art, oil paintings, period pieces, vintage prints (ads and pictures), modern art, historical pieces, watercolors, etc.. etc… Going through the many examples of art styles is a large task but you will quickly decide upon the styles you are drawn to and the ones you are not.

Consider the time you have, drying time, cost of supplies, and skills needed when thinking of what you might want to do. As you`ve seen on the do-it-yourself shows, nothing is impossible and there are a lot of shortcuts that can be utilized if time is of the essence.

Some of these murals can take up the whole wall and have a realistic look to them. I love the ones that look like french doors opening up into a beautiful garden or view of the sea.

By this, I mean old doors, wrought iron gates, corbels, porch pieces – anything that you might normally find on the outside of the house can add depth and interest to your inside walls. When it comes to architectural elements, the more wear the piece has and the chippier the paint, the better! This aging and wear give character to the piece and adds interest.

Whether you are thinking about how you can brush up your home for spring or you simply want something fresh on your walls, it may be time for you to consider using wall decals to revitalize your living spaces. Vinyl wall art, which is flat pieces of matte vinyl that are cut and then applied to the wall, are easy to install and do not harm the wall. When they are used properly, the decals can enhance any room and even create an impression of a professional, hand-painted mural!

These are great decals for kids` rooms. For example, you can find some cute, colorful animals to add to the wall. Boys might want decals of different sports players, while the girls may want some bright pink butterflies. There are some that go with many popular movies and television shows, too, such as Spongebob Squarepants, Marvel`s Avengers, and, of course, the Disney Princesses. If you are looking for a way of decorating for your new baby, why not add a nursery wall decal or two. There are some cute ones for a nursery done in Noah`s Ark, Winnie the Pooh, and animals, just to name a few. You can even find a number of these decals that include a growth chart so your child can see how tall he or she is.
