You`ll also be given fabulous discounts by dealers of such works of art. Moreover, you can easily pay for the ones you choose while the dealer visits your residence and even help you in installing them. You can also request for an artist to come in person to your house and have your walls painted with the kind of art you desire.

With a contemporary or modern space, you want to stick with things that are sleek and free from intricate details. A single large mirror or abstract pieces that are square, round or triangular in shape work well with this type of decor. For those who love a warm, inviting appeal, artwork can be a bit more detailed. Tapestries, prints, and framed artwork are more country themed, consisting of rich, warm colors such as rust, cream, blue, pumpkin, and gold. Just be sure to carry through with the overall color of the room, so that your wall decor complements or contrasts with furnishings, floors, and other accents.

Large rooms look much better when you have wall accents that are scaled to the size of the room. Large mirrors, tapestries, and other artwork can make a single wall the focal point of the room.

Most decals are sold online and size and quality can be deceiving. Make sure that you read the fine print page for the size and material used. They should be removable and even better if re-positionable. Also, cheaper decals have a paper-like quality, usually have clear plastic around the design, or are printed on white background. They can appear shiny and once placed on a wall can appear cheap or sticker like in quality. The higher quality decals are slightly more expensive but well worth the money. There are vinyl decals that are usually done in the color of your choice and there are decals made of thin, matte material with high-resolution printing. Once put up on a wall they blend and are a beautiful addition to your space. In addition, they won`t tear if you move them around until you have it just right.

Another fun and easy item to use as wall art that can be found at many yard sales, thrift stores, junkyards, and antique stores are old windows and doors. Finding a vintage window can be an interesting way to add an old-world feel to any room. Using a door on a large wall can add something unexpected to the room. It`s fun to hunt around for cool and interesting doors and windows. Whatever your style, you can find something to make the room your own with decorative wall decor.

By starting with the walls, you can set the mood and basic style for the rest of the room. Choose to paint the walls with bright colors such as red, blue, and yellow, adding stenciled pictures to the walls.

A chalkboard wall decal is exactly what it sounds like, a decal that allows you to write on it like it was a real chalkboard. You can use the chalkboard wall decal to write your shopping list on. Another fun idea is to use the chalkboard wall decal to leave little messages to your family members as they come and go throughout the day. Your kids will love seeing personal messages to them when they get home from school. Another option in the kitchen is to find them with a quote about food, eating, or a family gathering. You can even get a wall decal custom made to say, ”Karen`s Kitchen.” A personalized quote will add that extra special touch to your kitchen.

I`ve seen some great stencils that look like rock walls with vines and ivy. If you are the least bit creative, then stencils will allow you to exercise that creativity to make a piece of wall art that you can enjoy every day as well as show off to your guests. Wall murals and stencils go with a variety of decorating themes including the old world, shabby chic, french country, and even some contemporary styles.
